Nearly the last drop of a whisky that is so much better than any other whisky I have ever had that I often go off of whisky for a while after the indulgence. It is all treacle, Christmas cake, spice and leather, but yes, some iodine and the faintest whiff of smoke. And holy heaven, the proof. Bought as a dusty in maybe 2008, for $125, which was a lot for me. I forget when I opened it, stored it under Nitrogen and it hasn't lost a fragment of its power and grace.

One doesn't even see the Rare Malts line much anymore.

Yeah I am sure it was defunct when I first bought that bottle, which was the only one I had ever seen. There were some epic whiskies in that lineup, and quite a number of silent stills.

Sad fact is that prices really didn't drop when the tarriffs were repealed - it is like the ratchet effect for producers. People were used ro paying that money and so they still do. I wonder how much of the 'inflation' his year has been falsely blamed on logistics and ports and worker shortages ans whatever when it is merely a convenient excuse to raise prices?

This may be sacrilege, but at the higher proof, I’m enjoying it a bit more chilled, with just the touch of water a large cube provides as it slowly melts…

Bought this one last weekend, and man, did I like it a lot. I had been off of the Islay malts for years, just lost my taste for it, but after a Lagavulin 16 at a bar about a year ago, I dove back in. This one was just so good, maybe my favorite of all the Islays I have tried recently.
