The wonderful distillery in Bangalore has never before offered single casks in the US, so snagging this one at 8 full years of age was an absolute coop. 8 years in the heat in Bangalore is like 30+ in Scotland.

Just bought a bottle of this for someone for Christmas - aged armagnac (yes I know it's not scotch). I don't fully understand why there's a (literally) order of magnitude difference in aged armagnac vs scotch, but it's nice to be able to try much older spirits without spending $1,000+ a bottle.

I’ve never tried it, but agree with your larger point. The only caveat for my tastes are the Balvenie peats, they are quite good.Anybody have experience with this? I was intrigued, but also feel like the “heavy” peat versions of non-Islay distillers wind up being neither fish nor fowl.

It is very good, looking forward to drinking it again. An aside, that peated dram was good, but I discerned no peat.
