Any One for a Scotch?

How was it? I always am afraid to touch the Balvenie Peat Week stuff because their regular stuff is so good. I understand their peat stuff is great as well, but just not for me.

Haven't kept up with some new stuff. Both of these were great. The Naked Malt is really good. I saw it in a store, googled it and it look almost too good to be true. For around $25 or $30 its pretty damn good, and its a blend! Apparently the casks come from Macallan, Highland Park and the Glenrothes.

The Glenlivet is great as well. 48% abv and very malty, grassy and concentrated for a Glenlivet.

I'll probably be picking up more of these in the future.

I got hooked on their peat when some years ago, I stumbled on the 17, which is no longer in production. It’s simply amazing, to me anyway. After realizing it was no longer in production, I looked all over Europe until I found three bottles, in a retail shop that would ship to USA, and bought them all. That was two years ago, now the prices on a bottle are getting up there. The peat week stuff isn’t nearly as good, but does satisfy my Balvenie peat craze enough to tide me over. That way I can just sip occasionally on the 17’s, instead of guzzling them all down. ?

Good looking out on those other two, I’m going to give them a try.

I have not.
Costco keeps bringing the 16 in @ around $69 for what seems like years.
It's an embarrassment of riches.
I'm going to splurge and pick up an Octo though.
I've wanted to try one for awhile.

Octos are too much peat for me.

Distiller edition is finished in PX casks, so it adds additional sweetness and lightens the smoke a bit. It's cool that they change he finishing for each distillery for respective 'distiller editions' - lagavulin is px, caol ila is fino, etc.

I was running low on stuff I actually drink so I went out and got some stuff. Regular Dalmore 12. Umm, what happened to this? Smells like old basement now and doesn't drink much better. Meh. After that swing and miss, I stepped up to Dalmore Port Wood. Much better and way better flavor.

I've had Hakushu before (been in rotation for a while). I havent had a yamazki 12 or hibiki 12 in a while but I do have a harmony to compare to. I prefer the hibiki harmony, its much smoother.

I did a side by side of Yamazaki 12 and Hakushu 12 awhile back, and was kind of blown away by the difference. The Yamazaki was full of flavor and the Hakushu was very mild and bland in comparison. Definitely prefer the Yamazaki.

Not that the Hakushu is bad on it's own, but it's a very "light" scotch.

Soooo, thought I’d post some actual scotch…..
