I would definitely recommend Edradour 10 Year Old.

I also recently tried Hibiki 12 Year Old and was very pleasantly surprised.

I picked up a bottle of Mortlach 16 year old when I was in Scotland. Amazing scotch right there. Unfortunately I don't think it's possible to get a hold of this stuff in the US, or I would get more.

Other than that, I've really been liking the Oban 14 year old, and (not a scotch) but a Irish single malt, Tyrconnell.

Any recommendations on good, not smoky scotch to try? I'm always looking for something new. I also want to try a Japanese single malt... what would be a good place to start with there?

You would probably like Yoichi 10 year from the sounds of it.

Mortlach 16 is my favorite! Sadly, most of the few available Mortlachs in the U.S. are not as good as the distillery bottling.

I think you would enjoy the Douglas Lainig 'Old Malt Cask' edition of Royal Lochnagar. Also hard to find, but incredible.

Where's a good spot to get a hold of Japanese whisky in the US? Either online or Chicago area. I usually go to Binnys for most things (surprisingly good selection) but sometimes it just doesn't cut it. Any ideas?
