Honestly its been forever since I had the 15 and well over 2 years since I last opened a 21. I never had a good experience with the 15 and the 21 was really starting to slip in quality. Couldnt answer that today. Plus prices are all over the place due to their supply issues.

Just bought a bottle of this for someone for Christmas - aged armagnac (yes I know it's not scotch). I don't fully understand why there's a (literally) order of magnitude difference in aged armagnac vs scotch, but it's nice to be able to try much older spirits without spending $1,000+ a bottle.

YES. Amrut is extremely underrated if you are a lover of sherry and port aged single malts.

The wonderful distillery in Bangalore has never before offered single casks in the US, so snagging this one at 8 full years of age was an absolute coop. 8 years in the heat in Bangalore is like 30+ in Scotland.
They have a sherried offering that is quite nice sounding as well.

I really like that one.
Holy ship, it’s my first time trying it. It’s damn good. I’m not surprised their master blender said it’s his favorite.

Scotch is overrated IMO. Armagnac is delicious, and I'm kind of glad it's flying under the radar in terms of pricing.

Anybody have experience with this? I was intrigued, but also feel like the “heavy” peat versions of non-Islay distillers wind up being neither fish nor fowl.

I’ve never tried it, but agree with your larger point. The only caveat for my tastes are the Balvenie peats, they are quite good.

Usually Glenrothes does basically nothing for me but the added abv and sherry aging do well. Very nice as a “winter/holiday” dram and quite affordable too.

It is very good, looking forward to drinking it again. An aside, that peated dram was good, but I discerned no peat. Maybe I just drink too much Lagavulin :)
