Lagavulin 16 runs between $75 and $85 in my experience. Great scotch.

Same. That includes a "bought in New York" tax though, so probably cheaper in more normal places. Still, it's not the world's cheapest Scotch.

Thanks. I'll look for a bottle this weekend. Hopefully ABC has it, their selection on scotch is very limited

+1 (you can sometimes find it for a bit cheaper).

Is NY a no-ship state, or can you look online?

Yikes. I just picked up a bottle for $67ish pre-tax. I have a few too many bottles opened at the moment, so this one might take awhile to get to.

SG - Calvert Woodley in DC has Lagavulin 16 for $58 and ships to NJ (and NY). Wine-searcher.com is your friend.

Any of you guys rate the Lag 12. I have a bottle yet to be opened (still drinking bourbon until the first REAL chill).

I've yet to try the Capone Prohibition bourbon minis I acquired but just recently traded a Pappy 20 and Willet Family Estate 9 y/o for two pints of Medicinal Whiskey bottled in 1932. Can't wait to have some! Been into the older stuff lately, including 1990 Old Fitz BiB, 1992 Old Fitz Prime, 1980 Old Taylor, 1992 Old Grand Dad, and a 1960's Old Charter. I think these are way cooler than the ever popular Pappy releases (which is why I traded the 20 for the medicinal stuff).

I tend to start my scotch drinking with the lighter Highlands and Speysides before moving heavily into the Islays come December.

I appreciate the effort, but it says they wont ship distilled spirits out of DC.

I plan to be in their area sometime next year so I might load up.

Crap - sorry about that. The shipping laws are ridiculous.

Not to worry, I think I just have to take advantage of pricing in my travels.

I have a number of bottles of the 12 y.o. Lagavulin, from various years (it's an annual special release). I like it quite a bit...more so than the standard 16. Funny thing, it is younger, but bottled at cask strength and thus spendier.

Every whiskey should be bottled at cask strength.
