Any love for twist loafers?

Anyone else have any twist loafers? I think the only pairs I've ever seen from any other shoemaker is Tom Ford and Gaziano and Girling.

I got these twist loafers MTO from CNES - they did a bang-up job with a custom patina for me to make them stand out. I believe it is technically challenging to get the twist in the strap just right without producing unsightly wrinkles. I like that they were about to make them in EEE width. I also like the little details like the beveled waist and their unique Goodyear-Bologna construction that delivers a more comfortable shoe than pure Goodyear construction.

I like them. I’ve never heard of Goodyear bologna. Where is their description?

Nice shoes - who makes those?

Goodyear-Bologna construction is a propietary method that the founder of CNES shoes invented. It's a fusion of Goodyear construction in the heel area of shoe and Bologna construction in the front area of the shoe - the advantage is that the Bologna method in the front of the shoe offers additional flexibility and comfort while still being durable and resoleable and their workshops. I've seen it described in a few of their youtube videos.

I don't hate it in general, I think some burnishing on the toes/heels can look tasteful as done by like C&J, EG. But personally I don't like it when it's too obvious like on some Corthay and Berluti.

That pair from Bontoni still look ok to me though.

Why is that? I'm genuinely curious why some people dislike it. It just seems to add more dimension to an otherwise flat and relatively plain leather.

I also dislike patina. Beyond the varying colour which doesn't appeal to me it's like wanting to mask the true essence of the leather with extraneous hues, whereas the dye from the tannery is part of the leather itself. Maybe it sounds odd, but this is my feeling.
