Used to have nice winter jackets sold at my local high class sports store but they now got rid of all their high priced items and now are a run of the mill sport store.

I'm talking about $600.00 and up price tag winter coats.

I am looking forward to purchasing a nice jacket that could be comfortable enough to wear
for high altitube climbing. Multi layered jackets are fine as well.

The paticular style are the ones that go right below the buttocks or at least a foot below the waist.

I don't know if it would be warm enough or durable enough for you (sounds like you really need "technical" gear), but I'm fond of my Loro Piana Barrage jacket. It's sort of like a stylish anorak.
