Hey guys, have any of you ever heard of a Canadian tailor named Jean Gamache? I was thinking of getting a suit and a few shirts made by him and I wanted to know if anyone here had any experience with what he does. He has his shop about an hour from Montreal and often goes to town with his fabrics to take orders from clients there. Although he does have some MTM programs, I'm pretty sure that what he offers is bespoke, I think his suits start at 650 and his shirts at 150 with Thomas Mason fabrics. I've got a 10inch drop so nothing OTR fits me well, you think it's worth the bet?

I have never tried this tailor personally, but I know that one of my late uncles used to have things made by Gamache, including a rather nice trench coat. Another member of my family has a suit that was made by Gamache and it fits very well, although I could not tell you about the quality and canvassing.

If you end up using him, let me know about the results. I might try him later this year...

So I went in today to get measurements taken. I decided to go with a flannel navy suit with a faint stripe. I wanted a winter suit. 2-buttons, notch lapel, flap pockets, reinforced interior pocket for BlackBerry.

Full canvas.

Just a touch under 800 dollars. With Dormeuil fabrics, it's 850 and this is as expensive as it gets with Gamache.

I should be going for a fitting in three weeks if I can manage to come back that weekend. I will keep you posted...
