Any difference between Short and Regular on RLBL suit besides arm length?

Hi All,

I am just wondering if there is any difference between Ralph Lauren Black Label Short and Regular besides arm length, and jacket length, anything on the arm hole, lapel that might be different? A RLBL 38S would fit me perfect, but it seems the only thing on discount I could find is 38R not 38S. If it's only arm length, then easy fix. If it's jacket length, then I really need to see how much I might need to take off. Any idea what's the maximum length you can take off on a jacket relatively easily, or there is no rule to that.

There is also a difference of jacket lengths. I would suggest not to try to change the jacket length more than ~.5 inch as it may throw off the proportions of the suit (some others disagree about altering jacket length at all).

I guess I need to run to the RL store some time tomorrow then, need to get a feel of how much longer jacket length is on a "R".

Clee, did you find any difference? I'm in the same boat, where I want an S size, but keep finding Rs.

Jack length is different, not siginificant, but definitely noticable. RLBL already cut shorter, so it's personal preference if you ask me. I wore some English suit (Richard James, Kilgour) that usually have their jacket cut longer, so I am used to that look, but it might bother you.

I had about an inch cut off the bottom of my RLBL and it looks fine. However, I had the work done at the RL store and their tailor is top notch

At least you could find 38R, which is hard enough in this nation of lardarses. If you find the alteration, I'll be happy to take the RLBL suits; I'll even pay shipping!

This is a while time ago, didn't find any on discount in NYC (or too late rather), called bunch RL store across the country to found one, in the end 410 + shipping

I gues it's always a bit of luck thing.

There is usually at least an inch and half difference in body lengths among Short, Regular and Long. On the newer, more cropped styles, this may not be so different, but if you start messing with proportions, you are liable to have some surprises beyond shallow pockets!
