If you're still willing to risk it, the usual suspects like NM, Sak's and Barney's are your best bets as they're all having sales right now. Barney's in particular has quite a few on sale now.

shoes are something that the lady has to go and pick out on her own. you go get a pair yourself, it is 99.99% guaranteed they will be returned/exchanged for something else/another design

make sure you go shopping with her and do the waiting thing while she spends the few hours trying on shoes, then at the end she will acknowledge it was a gift from you.

Yup. She has a pair of the same so the fit is familiar. Really appreciate all teh advice. I'm really surprised that I simply cannot anything good so far....and I'm not looking for much! Just a 25-35% discount on staple ie-black 'pumps'

My wife tells me there's a dedicated CL forum on purseblog.com.

I'd bet large sums of money that everything on that site is a fake at best.
There are dozens of styles for ridiculously low prices compared to legit sites.
The "about us" page reads like it was written by a Chinese native speaker.
The contact us email address is a yahoo.com address.
The pictures were lifted from Saks and Neiman Marcus websites.

this is the truth. i've saved myself the heartache and just get her a NM gift card and let her figure it all out. she also randomly puts stuff in my watch list on eBay and when the fancy strikes me to get her something nice, i not only have a good idea of what's on her wish list, but it's only a snipe away
