Any advice on building my closet?

How'd you do Gentlemen?

This is my first post but I've been reading styleforum for a while. I'm a young man in his twenties whom has been eating rice and pasta for the last few months due to the recent commission of a dozen bespoke shirts and three bespoke suits as well as two pairs of quality shoes. I just couldn't stand wearing clothes I didn't even like anymore and since RTW never fit me due to unusual proportions I didn't have much of a choice so I did it; I embarked on a bespoke adventure spending social revenues on bespoke shirts and work earnings on shoes and suits. I may not be dining like a King at the moment but I think it was absolutely worth it, especially if these clothes last anything from 10 years to a lifetime!

The one thing I did not think of though was where I was going to put these things!

I just inherited an apartment in my native France where I now live since 2008. Since my suits and shirts are due to arrive in about two weeks the pressure is on to build a wardrobe/dressing area in my room. First thing I did was get some of the best hangers around, Toscanini hangers (the ones used by Huntsman!). But now... Well I'm not sure how to go about this. I never built anything in my life and the windows are too small to bring in some ready built stuff. Any advice on closets, closet kits or the like?

(By the way I can't just go to a hardware store or IKEA since I don't have a car I need to be able to order my stuff online.)

Your advice is very much appreciated!

Thanks Inimitable.

Unfortunately they're located outside of town, unreachable without a car and while their website offers to order stuff online every time I try I get a "Only available in stores" message.

If someone has a good solution I am willing to order from the US or some other location provided the stuff is really good and will last a lifetime.

I used a closet organizing company. They come in and do a design to maximize your space and install it. Other than that, a wardrobe delivered.

Ideally no more than €1000 or so, I think the best way to go about it would be to build something myself but how? Maybe if someone knows of a tutorial or something. At least if I build it myself I know that I'll be using quality materials.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
