Going in on the bespoke service later this year after my foot is healed up from surgery, probably starting in May. My first shoe will be an oxford or a double monk.

Any advice on how to best work with Antonio for fit? I'm torn between basic bespoke and full bespoke given the 900 euro price difference for a second trial pair. I have a SLIGHTLY difficult foot to fit, but it isn't too crazy.

Good question because it is an immense price difference. I believe because you have a difficult foot to fit I would suggest selecting full Bespoke would be prudent.

Saying that, full Bespoke isn't an option unless you are able to meet with Antonio (at least as I remember speaking to him). So, the next best cost effective option would be the Argentum MTM shoe.
You can have a last and trial shoe made. Which hopefully should address your fit issues.

Aurum MTM, which is another option, is a great option but other than a few improved aesthetic differences I would save the bucks and focus exclusively on obtaining the best fit possible for the lowest price available.

As to how to acquire a great fit. Provide all the measurements, pictures of your feet, pictures of the measurement tape as to how you arrived at your measurement number, explain the fit issues you encounter with other footwear.

The prices are a bit above that. Looking at 3300 euro full bespoke and 2400 basic bespoke. I believe the MTM was around 1500. The difference between basic and full bespoke is primarily in a second test pair, as I understand it. Antonio said many do basic bespoke then do a second pair with adjustments. it’s good to know that from my description my foot sounds like a difficult fit - I don’t really know what does or doesn’t qualify.

Antonio said since COVID started all bespoke has been done strictly by remote measurements and test pairs and that he has not had any issues.

Are those the prices Antonio quoted? That definitely is a lot more than I paid (or remember), but I haven't paid for trial shoes in a very long time. Consequently, I may be out of touch with trial fit pricing.

Typically a difficult fit involves plantar fasciitis, high arches, bunions, oddities in the foot (heel spurs). It is essentially anything that will cause the shoemaker to severely adjust a last to accommodate your foot providing you that comfortable fit and feel.

Planning on selling these off, may not be ideal time since it's winter in the northern hemisphere. PM me if interested.

Could explain what kind of test shoes you will receive?

I heared that should be handwelted test shoes .Is it correct?

Somethingh like these as Handwelted test

  • And these as final pair

  • Is That correct ?

You couldn't hold off until like March? As you stated, now is not the ideal time for loafer selling. People are probably still thinking boot season.
