so I was checking with AM on potential last modification on soft square (Chisel 2 fits me well, soft square in wide fit is good in toebox but a bit too wide in heel and elsewhere). Had to take some picture for him to gauge, might as well pots some here for comparison

2. UK 9F Chisel 2, AW (my first order wasn't sure if I need E or F, end up taking F just to be on the safe side, a bit big so I put in tongue pad).

I agree, but I still think Centurion looks better on soft square (I think Chisel 2 make it front heavy), that's why I'm asking AM regarding to last modification on soft square *without going full wide fit.

IMO split toe derbies are inherently less sleek than other types of shoe. A longer last is neccessary to give it that extra elegance.

yup agree, I want split toe to be less sleek as well (GG Hove to me is definitely too sleek, and Dover on 888 is also too sleek). Not sure about longer last, I thought Dover on 606 is right, but don't think 606 has more "lake" than say on 888. And the italian split toe with extra lake really doesn't do it for me

I did MTM once. He asked me to point (using a finger or a pen) to places where you feel pressure on the toes.

Were you required to do the same?

well, I was asking him to get pricing on Argentum HW with last modification. It's purely an initial assessment, he is asking me to go through the measuring stuff now.

From experience here and there, it usually goes down the spiral pretty quickly...

RE: @Complete Novice dress chukka

Perhaps you can suggest Antonio to make for your GMTO something like this. Colour would be toasted coffee or some nuanced dark brown/ grey shade.

so if I label it as 1 through 5 below, I guess "3" was the "base" for the one AM showed?

@clee1982

I think it may actually be #2. #3 looks like a colour which I think is called burgundy but again, our monitors may be lying to us and the only way to be sure is to order swatches ............

@shirtingfantasy very helpful, particularly like your proposed colours, thank you!

In return for your kindness, I see your Berluti and raise you 2 han.shoemaker :)

Not quite convinced about the placement of the looping stitch over the ankle, I can that it is required to stiffen the leather which usually sags and bulges in this area but makes it look like a boot shaft grafted over a derby - which is exactly what a chukka is I guess!

Beautiful proportions though, really like the S profiles that I can see here ............

What do you think?

with regard to shaft height, I'm of the opinion either keep it low or high, not in between. My main issue is back side will get caught in the pants after sitting down.
