Whilst my desire for a SpTD in Color 8 remains high, I must say that I do find the idea of a dark brown grained shell cordovan SpTD quite intriguing.

Picture is of a Derby made by the fine duo of Siroeno Yosui. Pic courtesy of Picuki (I will defeat you IG without registering).

I would imagine this leather on a Centurion would make for a fine shoe. ??

I wonder what grain shell look like after long term wear
Long term actual wear of 'I have had this for 5 years and have used it extensively' meaning 'it has been in a box for that time and I've worn it once a month as part of my rotation only on dry days and to the office where I sit for the entire time'?

I do beat the crap out of my shoes though, and that's kind the reason I sold my shell, if I go for grain it would be exactly "to beat it" but if it's as bad as shell (water spot/bloom, took a lot work to get out) then might as well not bother...

Cheap bespoke, cheap MTM, for now...

Those would be the makers yes. Japanese made shoes which will undoubtedly require being fitted in person, at least that's my impression.
Since that's not a realistic option for many, I was thinking another maker (such as AM) would be a nice alternative.

I'll amend it this way..I have had this for 5 years and have used it extensively' meaning 'it has been in a box for that time and I've worn it once every 18 to 24 months as part of my rotation.

Question which is not relevant to AM but you guys maybe know.

Do you know who manufactures Mario Bemer shoes? (Firenze RTW not the bespoke). I heard it might be enzo bonafe but idk.

I am commissioning an MTO pair this week so I'd have a nice comparison of the Italian higher end.

That's crazy, if it's EB. I'm definitely interested in knowing the answer.

Just speculation from a friend of mine, I will ask Mario directly even though he is not involved in the Firenze business.

Anyways! So many shoes, so little time!
Cool. Please share the answer with us once you hear back from Mario.

I went into Mario's shop in Florence. Very nice.
I asked that same question to Mario, but didn't receive a response from him. He just said that the shoes were made within the city limits of Florence.

I'm quite the curious person, so I asked neighborhood folks about factories within Florence. I was informed that there is a small shoe factory in Sieci (one can even arrange to have a tour there). No one directly mentioned that factory in connection with Mario Bemer but they did mention Stefano Bemer originally had a workshop near Sieci.
The people also said Mario used to be around that factory, not sure in what respect.

Is it a coincidence? ??‍♂️.

hehe, mr. detective! I am mostly asking so I don't give any wrong information. Still excited to make something if I can find an attractive design. It looks very catered towards modern new audiences.
