how many can I get, maybe 3 tops now, still quite far away from 12

Construction: AW/HW? If I got enough traction will then probably start talk to AM to see what's the real pricing...

@clee1982 -> myself, yes
@GeoffreyB -> yes I think?
@WhyUEarly -> in the maybe territory

@BColl_Has_Too_Many_Shoes -> and just for you, we will paint this dark green so it looks uniform brown...

I'm in with grey antiqued brown on the chisel 2 last.

I liked the one that was part whiskey, and part grey.
Now throw some kind of grain funk on it, and

It's weird how specific my tastes can be.
I can't stand penny loafers, but I like horse bit.
And whoever posted the pair that's whiskey contrasted by the grey, those were insanely cool...

I think we all, after owning several pairs, develop distinct tastes for certain shoes. In the case of these Horsebit loafers, I never really cared for the Gucci loafer. They just looked cheaply made, and the leather has a faux look to it.
Fortunately, this EB pair looks more serviceable with a matte, yet subtle sheen to it.

In saying about distinct tastes, some influences are somewhat embedded in the psyche. For instance, I couldn't see myself purchasing a pair of Alden shoes. Mostly, because my tastes have evolved, however I have been attempting to replace a pair of SWB with a more modern less bulbous silhouette. I guess while things change, they stay the same. ??‍♂️

I've always felt the same way about Allen Edmonds. In my head, they're clunky American business guy shoes.
And although I still have never purchased shoes, when they had their last big sale I took a chance on some nubuck boots that I like quite a bit.

Well I used to purchase and own (still have many pairs of AEs and Aldens), but have not purchased from either in at least 7 or 8 years.

Because, like you said, they are clunky bulbous archaic looking lasts. Yet, if they offered a more modern last, different construction options (HW), and different leather options I would be interested.

Since they don't, now I am attempting to have one made up. I believe either the SWB or LWB (although the SWB looks slightly less country or casual) does allow some versatility. You can easily pair it with jeans, chinos, or even a wooly flannel.

well, they are not exactly the same price..., and I'm playing with known quantity, in my defense... is all you guys on the split toe train?

I think the "you're thinking of how to hide the 3 pairs you bought during COVID and now you are thinking of another!?" would be more apt ?
