Not so far; these are my only Meccariellos at the moment.Cool. Any experience with chisel 1 and the difference between them?
Not that often but surely have worn them 25-30 times I’d guess. The heel is very hard on my feet for some reason. That’s the only thing that I struggle with. Rest is fine.
I agree that AM has some of the worst break in periods out of any brand i own but it shouldn't hurt your knees or soles. Instead, if there is pain, it should be coming from the thickness and stiffness of the leather, i.e. pain from the leather not yet conforming to your foot. Typically i would find some pain in my heel during the first 5-10 wears and because of this, i now make sure i wear new AMs on days where i walk minimally. Allows the shoe to mold to my foot while i sit at my desk all day.
If AMs are giving you pain 30 wears in or worse still after two years then it probably has got to do with an incorrect fit. Perhaps a last that is not suited to your foot? One width too small? half size too short?
Speaking of the new “choose your patina” option, here are the G&G cherry inspired AMs that may have insipired the new patina option. Still haven’t worn them but here they are after a Polish with Saphir Hermes red cream. The actual color is very hard to capture, it’s a lighter red burgundy with black burnishing. Also a comparison with TLB Artisas in burgundy, which are clearly darker and more of a true merlot/burgundy.Btw, AM's "choose your patina" Principes 2 (aka GG St James II style) is up...
And I placed my order (as gift to a close friend of mine) already

Haven’t worn them yet, but I’d say the cherry will work nicely with a light gray, true blue suits and certainly jeans. The shoes aren’t as vibrant red as they appear in AM’s photos.this looks mighty tempting, if you ask me cherry is a bit hard to wear, wine, burgundy and caffe tostato are all easy pairing colors
Guys for heel break in issues please refer here. You should have 50% - 75% less discomfort on heels afterwards. I did it all for my AM shoes.I have had break in issues with Argentum Dux (Chisel 2) and Titanus (Chisel 1) but none with Aurum RTW (Aurum Chisel). I tend to think the heel shape of Aurum Chisel is different.
The issue was also raised with Antonio a while ago; seeing @Proleet 's post makes me feel obliged to share Antonio's reply and my attempt in heel modification.
I copy his reply below:
Fot your existing shoes ,i have seen you get promlems ,with other brands too.
To solve very easly the problem ,follow my instructions so you will avoit to have issue .
rember that is you have original shoe tree ,you can do always something.
Check the exact point where the issue is ,and write on the heel last ,whereis the exact point.
Once you have written on the tlast that ,put a nail on the wood(take care ,and left about 3- 4 millimeters out,the head of the neil.
that ,buy a
some car putty, the stronger that you find,
cover the nail with the stucco for cars, as if you wanted to make a ball, so as to create a protuberance, propio where you need more 'space.
I advise you to make it a little bigger, so it works well.
When the stucco has hardened, scratch with glass paper to soften the protuberance.
In this way the shape will change the shoes gradually, where you need it, creating space where you need it
It will take some time, because the spring pressure is not very strong, but slowly the shape will do its job
And below is my attempt:
Being a naughty student, I did not use a car putty (I tried to find one, but failed), but instead used Selleys Knead It Aqua (http://www.selleys.com.au/fillers-putty/epoxy/knead-it-aqua/). Also, I didn't follow the master's instruction in using a nail first (mainly because I don't have suitable nails at home anyway...)

After leaving the epoxy putty to harden for around 24 hours, I sanded down the surface of the putty.

And this is the final product -

The heels got better after leaving the trees in for about two weeks.
