1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

RL is a knockoff artist. He's never had an original idea in his life.

Although not completely false, your statements are pretty harsh. I cannot imagine what men's fashion would look like in the US without Ralph. Well, actually I can and it is not pretty...

    That's... pretty dumb.

Unfortunate that Ralph Lauren has yet to make proper trouser pleats mainstream, which is one of the few things I like about his clothing.

This doesn't really bother me. There are so many wonderful things to be copied, and so much of what I enjoy wearing is hardly original.

Then why not just buy the original? RL knocks off a Barbour coat(made in HK) and charges More for it than Barbour charges for the original.[IMG]

Except the Barbour is now made in Poland, and you can by the RL version, made in Italy out of nicer materials, on eBay for less than the Barbour. [IMG] Also, I was thinking of things like navy blue cashmere v-necks. Who makes the original? Is the RL version any less original than one from JCrew? It comes down to quality and fit in my mind, and because of scale, it's often easy to find RL drastically reduced.

Original ideas are overrated. Not showing nearly enough cuff.

    Even his name is fabricated.

His brand is at length, a true aspirational brand since it implies an inherent aristocracy.

I love RL. Best all-around brand name on the planet, IMO.

I don't think the two jackets look anything alike. They're like night and day.

Are you sure about that? I tried on a few jackets at Peter Elliot last week and they were all made in the England.

Apparently some are still made in England, but I've seen Barbour made in Romania, Indonesia, Bulgaria, and elsewhere, including Italy. A little strange, to be honest. I wish they made all their stuff in England.

I think the RL jacket is more reminiscent of a Belstaff Trialmaster (Che's jacket) or Tourmaster.

I love RL. Sure many of his stuff isn't original, but lets leave that to the 'fashion' guys, the ones who come up with quirky and stupid ideas every year just to be different. It's the only brand I know that keeps old fashion clothing looking fresh and modern!
