i'm trying to install the macromedia flashplayer 8. it downloads the installer into my computer just fine. i then open the installer and everything seems to be going fine until i get a pop-up that says the following:

Error Creating Folder
1008:9,5000

i have to click okay, and i get another pop-up that says this:

Access Denied Error
You do not have enough access priviledges for this installation.

i'm at a loss as to what to do since there is only one 'user' on this computer and i've never had a problem downloading or installing anything else.

any ideas?

TIA

I had a problem like this when I tried installing FP8 from a prompt on a web site.

I went to the Macromedia site and downloaded the player and it installed fine.

You haven't said which route you're taking so I don't know if this is applicable to your situation...

Step one: throw your mac out a window. Step two: build yourself a real computer. Step three: by that time you will be smart enough to figure it out on your own and won't need my help anymore...

I am wondering if you ever posted on Apple's website? I have an iMac and I've never had any problems but I have had questions. Here is a link to Apple's forum - http://discussions.apple.com/index.jspa

It is a great site. I am just pissed because they took away the imac avatar.

It is a forum like SF but for Apple users. How could one talk about apple computers all day???

if anyone's curious, i fixed it. the problem is a 'known issue' and i just needed to go into my computer and repair the permissions. one click and and everything was installed. thanks for the help.

How do you feel about spending money on non-essential goods during the Covid-19 crisis?

  • I don't want to spend money at a time of economic uncertainty, even if I could afford it.

  • I feel compelled to spend to help small businesses that are struggling.

  • I reduced my budget for non-essential goods and I'm not spending at the moment.

  • Not much has changed for me and I'm still buying stuff I can't afford.
