I received my first purchase from AI today and I must say I’m very disappointed it was a bengal striped shirt
The shirt was wrapped in their tissue paper and sent out in an UPS mail bag…..a cellophane bag would have been nice or even a box for the price of the shirt
I thought the fabric quality was poor and was well aware beforehand about the close fitting cuffs
Seems petty to complain about the packaging.
Please explain why you think the fabric quality is poor? What specifically is wrong with it?

Has anyone used their MtM service for multiple shirts? If so, what is your feedback regarding these?

I have three MTM OCBDs. Nothing crazy, very reasonable adjustments. I wear them all the time and am very happy with them. No concerns from me, and I thought the price was fair. I paid $230-ish a shirt IIRC.

Thanks for the feedback. I assume that they solely offer the three RTW collars i.e. Point Collar, Spread and B.D?
I do like their B.D. but the collar sits a bit big if you use a four-in-hand.

Yes, those three collars and limited range of fabrics and modifications. It's really just an MTO program for those that need longer sleeves or prefer a fuller shirt relative to neck size.

Do they still offer this? I can’t see it on the site.
It's usually tucked away under "Shirting" at the bottom of the page. You're right though: It's not showing right now.

In the past, they had certain collar styles that were unavailable. Perhaps they're in the midst of changing makers or phasing it out.

Echo all the above comments. I've had 10+ MtM shirts through them and all have been fantastic. Quite consistent in terms of measurements with tight tolerances, in some cases even tighter than their MtM tailoring. But that's another discussion!

Thank you both.
I am considering taking the plunge as I prefer Italian collars. I really like their spread collars.

Cheers! I also have the Martingala in navy but funnily I thought I'd double down on it. Charcoal is great don't get me wrong, and also the new sage grey is very elegant, but I asked myself - which colour would I reach for most? When do you wear your raglan versus the Martingala?
@te0o @VinnyDinny how are you both finding the pockets of the raglan? I have been wearing it for a few weeks now and I love every aspect of it apart from the pockets. I can barely fit my hands in them and even my phone (safely).

Yeah, they're a bit shallow.

Minor gripe though, at least for me. What I would have really liked to see is a poacher's pocket.

As @te0o says, not a big problem for me either. TBH, I find the martingala pockets more annoying as (because of the style, I know) they aren't really placed well for hands.

In other AIC news, I bought a pair of their washed cotton chinos (back on sale recently) and find them to be fine, I guess. But, for £330 they don't feel particularly amazing quality and the rise is a bit lower than I'd like. On the rise, in general, I find there's a difference between their RTW trousers and what the staff wear - or what is the perceived house style. Seems a bit odd.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
