Does it bother anyone else when you walk into a restaurant and the waitresses are wearing over-sized men's dress shirts and neckties? Italian restaurants, even nice once I've been to, are especially guilty of this. I think it looks so tacky.

I honestly don't care because when I go to restaurants I go to eat food not to think or worry about what the waitresses are wearing.

Perhaps you'd find trucker stops the best bang for the buck then.

Minya said he was concentrating on the food being served (which has nothing to do with what the waitresses are wearing) not that he was looking for the "best bang for the buck". Please read other users posts before replying.

Regardless, the point stands; Minya may as well go to a greasy spoon.

Hahaha, I can't even tell if you're joking/trolling or not.

I hope for your sake that you are.

I have to agree with minya, and I wouldn't be caught dead eating at a greasy spoon. I don't see what one has to do with the other. If the waitress had a particularly bizarre uniform I might for an instant wonder what the owner was smoking, but I wouldn't give it a second though. Regardless, I have yet to see thie affectation.

Yeah I agree with Minya too... the quality of the food and the service are so much more important than the uniforms of the waitresses. If the waitress is pretty, she'll look good wearing the necktie (or bow tie) and dress shirt. It only makes her cuter:

Right. When I go to a restaurant, I go expecting to eat well. (I absolutely love greasy spoons, for the record, and I also love restaurants where I blow my entire month's student salary on a single meal for two.) The waiter or waitress does play an important role in the overall experience, since he or she is serving you, but their clothing is utterly irrelevant. If they were dressed up like clowns or wearing a spacesuit, I'd probably glance at them strangely, but if the food is good, who cares?

Loosen up.

This actually fits though and doesn't look that bad. They can still wear a necktie (though I'd prefer something more feminine) but wearing a man's XL shirt just looks sloppy and if I'm paying extra for the ambience, seeing sloppy uniforms cuts into it a bit and is a pet peeve. Though service is #1, if things are going to look sloppy, I can get great food and service for cheaper elsewhere. btw, I have no problem eating at a greasy spoon.

Truth be told, I shouldn't pretend like I never care how they're dressed. Some of the waitresses at the more trendy places in town are absolute knockouts and I can't say it hurts the dining experience. Of course, those places tend to be less focused on the food than appearing trendy. Still, when dining out, I always go for the food & service. Hot waitresses in sexy uniforms are just a bonus.

I would prefer to see women dressed like women, period. I think a woman dressed like the one above looks comical at best. It certainly doesn't ruin the dining experience for me, but it doesn't do anything to enhance it either.

it used to be that if one wanted to see a woman in a necktie, he'd have to look at a high fashion magazine.
