This past Friday I received my first Jantzen shirt from Hong Kong. I've finally had a chance to wash and iron it and am wearing it today.
I'm very pleased with the quality. The fabric is Stripes #330, and I intended for this to be worn primarily as a sport shirt. However, I think it will also work with a nice solid blue tie and possibly other colors as well. I'm wearing a tie just to show how it looks with a tie, though I wouldn't wear the tie shown (i.e., I have no solid blue tie at the moment).
The stitching and pattern matching are all excellent. The fabric is a silky Italian 120's two-ply. The color is not quite as shown on the Jantzen website. My monitor shows a range of blues, from sky to turquoise blue. There is actually very little true blue but rather a melange of purple-blue and blue-grey. I still like it a lot. The buttons are very nice Trocas shell and are hand-sewn. I requested side pleats for the back and here is a picture of the back.
These were the measurements I submitted: Shirt Length: 29 Chest: 40.5 Waist: 33 Hip: 33 Shoulder: 18 Sleeve: 35.5 Neck: 16.25 Height: 5ft. 11 1/2 in. Weight: 184 lbs. Wrist Size: 7.5 inch Special for Thicker Watch: Left Hand 1/4" Bigger Shirt Fitting: Form (4"-6" Allowance) Shape of Shoulder: Regular Shape of Body: Normal Material: Stripes #330 Collar Style: #A3, (Long Semi Spread) Tie Space: 1/8" (Standard) Back Height: 1 1/2" (Normal) Stitching for Collar and Cuff: 1/4" (Our Standard) Collar Point: 3" (Long) Cuff Style: Single Cuff #5S (Round Double Button) Contract Collar: Self Collar & Cuff Cuff Height: 2 3/4" (Standard) Pocket Style: No. 2 no flap (Diamond) Front Placket: French Front with Stitching Width of Placket: 1 1/2" (Standard) Select one: With Sleeves Extra Button Shirt Tail: Regular Shoulder Pleat: Side Pleat Select One: With Split Yoke Buttons: Gray 3.4mm thickness Trocas Buttons Monogram Style: Inside Yoke #21 Other: I also requested higher cut armholes. So, what does everyone think? At first I thought that it fit me too tightly, but I've been wearing it all morning and it don't find it constricting at all. I am thinking about ordering the collar points a little longer (3 1/4") and the shoulder width a little wider (3/4"). Also, in reading it seemed like most first-timers wish they had ordered their sleeves a little longer. Therefore, I ordered mine 1/4" longer than I usually wear, and they appear spot on. Do they appear a little long to your eyes? Finally, I'm thinking I'll go with a plain back (no pleats) and yoke next time. Thanks for any and all of your thoughts. I'm already looking forward to having Ricky make up a shirt for me out of this fabric: HTML a href=" http://www.jantzentailor.com/checkers451.htm ">Page a > [/quote] Thanks in advance for your comments and ideas.
