I don't believe that Charvet makes any pre-tied bow ties.

Charvet definitely makes a pre-tied bowtie, as does Brioni. And why not? Bowties are essentially constume these days. The fraction of men who know how to tie one is miniscule.

I seem to remember a George Clooney interview, maybe even in the first Men's Vogue, wherein he admits that he actually wears a pretied when arriving at black tie, red carpet events, but eventually retires to the men's room to produce a proper bow tie from his pocket, which he drapes insouciently around his collar. The reasoning being that he can't actually tie a bow tie, but want's people to think he can, and also wants to look like he's let his hair down and partied a bit by the end of the night. He's secret's out now, though! If you ever meet Mr. Clooney in a bow tie, you should challenge him to untie and retie the thing right there on the spot. How embarassing!

I know how to tie a bow tie, and I can make it look good, if I take 30 minutes for the 15 or so attempts to get it close. I wear them so seldom that I get my practice only when I actually have to wear one.

The thing is - those pre-tied jobs don't look much at all like a self-tie and people have gotten so used to the clip-on perfection that they look at you funny, like you scrounged your self-tie from Salvation Army while Mr. Clip-on is now Monsieur Savoir Faire.
