insane but freakin' awesome at the same time. i should have guessed it would be the Buddhist religion that could possibly bring us something like this.

year 7 is nuts. that's 51.164 miles (pretty much a double marathon) a day for 100 days and then another 18.63 miles a day for 100 days. 1st part is crazy, even at 5 miles an hour which is a very very slow running pace, you'd be on the road for at least 10 hours for 100 days.

but it's this absolute dedication to enlightment that is one of the hallmarks of the Buddhist religion.

from day 101 onwards the Monk is no longer allowed to withdraw, he must either complete the course or take his own life.

I don't know if being addicted to pain killers for two years afterwards (presumably what he refers to) is such a great outcome, but very impressive.

Well, we are talking about the past 425 years. FWIW, among athletes today I'd say that Dean Karnazes, Yiannis Kouros, and Pam Reed could probably do this. Probably Scott Jurek as well.

How do you feel about spending money on non-essential goods during the Covid-19 crisis?

  • I don't want to spend money at a time of economic uncertainty, even if I could afford it.

  • I feel compelled to spend to help small businesses that are struggling.

  • I reduced my budget for non-essential goods and I'm not spending at the moment.

  • Not much has changed for me and I'm still buying stuff I can't afford.
