1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

Must be because Japan was a former Italian colony. Before there was Kim Jong-Il of course

Wait. 30% of Japan's people can speak Italian? That does not sound right at all. :brick:

Now I understand why Vox is not dubiously honored. :D

On general note, the very idea that someone apart of moderators able to edit others' posts is troubling, to say the least.

Moderators = absolute power (edit others' posts, ban people), but heavy responsibility.
Dubiously honored members = much power (edit others' posts, what else?), but... but what?

DH power are explained pretty well in other places (where you'd expect them to be) but basically, you can use the powers in specific subfora (MC in this case) in order to keep your threads on topic. There's very little "abuse" that I'm aware of, and in this case, Foo immediately put the mods on the case, so it's not really a big overstep.

I imagine communication issues are minimal.

I hear some of those fried Neapolitan pizzas are awesome.

Only one way to find out

    It's a guarded secret

Communication is minimal, it's like we totally understand each other, can finish each others sentences

Hearsay, even regarding pizza is questionable and sometimes unreliable

This is a pretty succinct description of what the "Dubiously honored" members are allowed to do. This is the first overstep, and I understand Matthew's reasons, but he still should have contacted someone else to delete or edit Ambrosi's posts, especially given his involvement in the dispute. The dubiously honored members program has been in place since July, 2011, but until fairly recently, only several members have made use of their privileges, which are to allow them to keep their threads from being derailed too much.

    Cheers,

    Fok.

I can think of at least one recent situation where this privilege was rather obnoxiously and repeatedly abused. If you're interested in hearing about it please send me a PM.

or, if you wanted to keep it private, you could have PMed it yourself without making this public announcement.
