Amazon changes the prices of the items it sells frequently. You can see this in practice by placing goods into your shopping cart and when you return a few days or weeks later the prices will have changed. The prices will often rise or fall by a few dollars to tens of dollars. Moreover, Amazon changes the prices by the penny instead of rounding to the dollar.

Do you find this practice disconcerting or do you think more online retailers should adopt it? One of the benefits of the technique is to allow stores to turnover their inventory more frequently instead of waiting for explicit sales dates. Likewise shopper can get discounted pricing as they shop and not have to worry about the merchandise they want selling out before the sales period comes along.
