Who thinks every god damn split toe shoe is ugly and not the least bit elegant?

I've yet to see a split toe I'd buy. They're pretty nasty.

They've grown on me, but yeah, traditionally not my favorites. I do think they're one of the styles that look better with wear -- instead of judging them fresh from the box, check out a well-worn, well-loved pair. Most still don't set me on fire, but I can appreciate the rumpled casualness of them.

Best "country shoe" design out there.

Also works very well for a stylish blucher

I ordered a pair of the Brooks pebble grain split-toe (by C&J, IIRC) in December and loved it. Didn't think I would. but it was really nice looking. I don't like the plan calf nearly as much, though.

I like both - the country split-toe (rounder last, pebblegrain, double-sole or rubber sole) as well as the city split-toe (e.g. EG Dover on 888, JL Portman)

I KNEW that someone was going to post either a JLP or an EG shoe and say well... look at this.
