I know that they are not thought of very highly on this forum, nor on others, but I really like the slim prfile of the boot. All pictures that I have seen have certainly left more to be desired in the leather. It seems to get very fine creases from what I have seen in pictures. I would love a pair R.M Williams, forum special but cannot afford somwthing like that. I know that they are a completely different boot, I was just stating it.

The Madison last is a classic. I think they've been making it for about a century. RTW used to be more elegant than those of today...the Madison is the sole (ha) survivor.

SA gets a lot of hate because many of their other styles are hateable but not this one.

Stay away from crazy colors...I'd limit myself to black, brown, gray or navy blue.

The Madison used to be made in the USA but is currently made in India, I think...don't know if this has affected the quality.

I laughed when I saw the thread topic but those are actually nice boots. They are made in India. The leather in the Zappos pictures looks terrible so I'd be careful.

I've had a pair of the grey kidskin boots for a couple of weeks. The color was the main draw, and I found them for less than $70, which is important on my budget.

They were made in India, and the leather is glossy and of so-so quality. The gloss has come off with a light buffing and some cream polish. There are a number of fine wrinkles that have developed across the toe box, and there appear to be some weird flecks of discoloration that have popped up, not sure if they're from wear or just dirt that I haven't attended to properly.

I thought I'd seen a couple decent looking photos of worn Madison boots around here, and I was anxious to have a pair of grey boots at a relatively low price. Hoping for the best.

The uppers are kidskin. Very thin, low quality, and will benefit from conditioner. The footbed is Texon, Bontex, or something very similar to what you would find in Dr. Martens. Synthetic lasting board which is very common, as a lot of shoes do not use leather lasting board. A real Goodyear welt. Leather soles. Fiberboard, "cardboard", heel stack. Hard rubber heel. Glued and nailed from inside of the shoe.

You buy these if this is what your budget allows. These are the better quality shoes, of low cost shoes. Superior to what you find at Wal*Mart, JCPenney, and other stores at the mall.

Florsheim Foundry, with Horween Chromexcel and Goodyear welt would be a better shoe in the same price range.

I have had them last well over a decade, in light use. I don't do construction, ride a motorcycle, climb trees, etc..... with these shoes.

They are good enough to wear to worship, and fall asleep during the service. A serviceable party shoe for weddings and nightclubs. No fear of spilled drinks, chewing gum, urine, blood, vomit. They will be okay if there's a fist fight. The perfect shoe for riding a desk. The shoe of choice for pimps and rappers.

These are a good shoe for under $150.

This is what they ship you from the "factory seconds" collection. A really good deal with an extra 25% off. $41.17 for shoes. $44.92 for boots.

To my eyes, and on my feet, there's nothing wrong.

No speed hooks. 360 degree Goodyear welt. Studded sole.

The webpage shows a regular Madison shoe. The shoe which they shipped was a patent leather Madison shoe. Stacy Adams no longer sells a patent leather Madison. Stacy Adams now sells a patent leather Concorde, which looks exactly like the same shoe. 270 degree Goodyear welt. Leather soles. I added some rubber for traction. Don't want to slip and fall in a **********.

I have read these posts with great interest. I am somewhat surprised at the
extremely low prices made in India where extreme poverty is an advantage
for export to the US. Over the past 50 + years I have seen Stacey Adams
referred to and have actually seen them at various discount shoe stores. It
is my impression that the brand has mainly catered to the African American market
for many decades. See this discussion:
