Hey:

Any suggestions for a medium weight jacket as an alternative to all the NF, Patagonia, etc. fleece jackets? Looking for something a bit less "outdoorsy", but not too heavy (such as a peacoat).

Thanks.

This exact question has already been addressed 1.) Here 2.) And here 3.) And here You're unlikely to get a warm reception if you presuppose your situation merits some sort of special attention from everyone - just sayin'

^^^ That OR stuff is nice but Gilt isn't shipping it for another month. The elusive jacket is real nice. I have a Porsche Design Gore-Tex softshell that's real nice too.

I was asking a different question than in the previous threads. I know about all the NF-type jackets (patagonia, etc.) I was hoping to get some help with other medium weight types of jackets, i.e., non-fleece, gore-tex, etc., and not the NF look alikes.

Most Barbour jackets won't make you look like you should be wearing a rope and crampons.

I have a few fleece pieces (including an older US made Denali vest I still break out occasionally) but for most situations it's a Barbour jacket, Filson wool coat or just heavy wool sweater. Look at those for great fleece alternatives.

Barbour's Snapper jacket is a good choice.
