hmmm, red wing gentleman traveller? except it doesn't come in cognac, looks a little thicker (but that may be a result of the shorter height) and I think it has a commando half-sole....

I believe they recently faded away into extinction, though I might be wrong...

BTW I once bought the Frye Brando's off a seller on ebay, and I don't know if this applies to all the shoes but these were clearly Brando's by design, but the leather was WAY OFF what it looked like on the Frye website. The leather on the website seems oily and smooth, what I got was something pebble grained, not so great looking. I re-sold them right away. For $250 you should be able to get something better than the Frye's, if you see the Frye's on sale, then it may be a decent deal.

Seems they like to switch up their online inventory frequently, they took the Sid Short Lace off the site and put on the Owens from the last time I looked (couple of weeks ago)

Interesting. I liked the pebble grain, which -- at least on the pair I have -- is just on the uppers a bit. It adds a rustic feel.

That said, I think the $250 price tag is because they are made in america, with overly priced american labor.
