Altering shirt necks?

I was wondering if it's possible to slightly enlarge a shirt's neck size? I have a few shirts that are a bit tight now in the neck and could use about a 1/4 inch larger adjustment. I've tried the wet "rolling" method to no avail.

You can move the button a bit closer to the edge, that might give you maximum 1/8" (3 mm).

Apart from that, lose weight or get new shirts.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. Maybe a salad at lunch wouldn't hurt either

or, there is a little device sold that will increase by about 1/4-1/2", assuming you will cover with tie. has a button on one end aand a loop on the other with a small elastic band attached. costs a few bucks.

Carl once showed me a trick to stretch out shirt collars that had shrunk - grab each collar end with 2 hands and press the middle of the collar against a smooth edge, then run it back and forth (think shoe shiner's motion). This can add 1/4" to neck size.

Should the collar be wet when performing this motion?
