So I was in the library and there was this book about dying clothes and how you can make your own dyes and get all sorts of interesting colours out of it.

Then, I went to another book, that was about all the little details that clothing can have, from epaulets to bunched waists (more for girls) to cuffs that button to the elbow, and so on and so on.

It was interesting because through these two books, you could already imagine things you could do with your current wardrobe to make your stuff slightly more interesting. Everyone knows a friend or two who rip their jeans, it's seen as tacky, yes, but its an example of DIY on clothes, that make them unique and your own. I've also seen a thread here about someone who dyed their shoes blue, and it came out wonderfully.

So, what have you guys done with your clothes to make them that little bit better or different. Anything?

I'll post scans from the books later on if anyone cares for it.

There were a couple threads on here about people dying their jeans. 1 person used tea to dye or maybe that was on sufu. Not sure. Someone waxed a jacket. I'm thinking about spray painting some old shoes as a test so I can do it later on to some sneakers that I don't like anymore.
