I recently bought a DJ on the net. Unfortunately, the jacket doesn't fit that well. And by that I mean, it's really ok at the shoulders, but further down it's too wide. It's more or less like a sack suit.
I would go to a tailor but I'm afraid it would destroy the jacket's cut.
So should I risk it or should I leave it be?

Any competent tailor should know how to add waist suppression to a jacket without destroying it. There is nothing special about dinner jackets that makes this task any more difficult.
