Altered waist not symmetrical

Hi,
I got the waist of my coat taken in. The tailor said that she would take out the same amount of fabric on both sides. However, the result is that one side of the waist seems to go inwards less than the other. I've gotten the waist of other jackets taken in before and they have turned out more or less symmetrical. What could be the cause of the waist not being symmetrical?
