So after lurking through this forum for a while, I thought that it was time to make an account and finally start contributing!

I live in Toronto, and I've been looking around for a good alterations tailor in Toronto. A lot of the posts on forums and blogs are from a few years ago, advertising their aging tailors who are close to retirement.

The alterations that I want done are pretty complicated; the first is on a grey sportcoat I got from Suitsupply which fits me quite well throughout, except that the shoulders are a little too long and I was hoping that they could get taken in by about 1 cm on each side. The second on a jacket (of admittedly poor quality) that I got as part of a suit when I worked at Moore's way back when and I want to get the padding reduced on the shoulder (the trousers don't fit me anymore but the jacket is salvageable..

I know that this is complicated and a lot of tailors won't even touch the shoulders. I also know that these are going to be expensive alterations but I'm somewhat strapped for cash atm, and I'm expecting that these alterations will cost less than it would for me to buy a new jacket. Plus the fact that I really want to have a black jacket in my rotation and Suitsupply pretty much refuses to sell black suits/jackets (outside of 1 Sienna suit I saw last year, which is out of my price-range).

    Thanks in advance!

    Welcome.
There is a dedicated Toronto discussion

Changing shoulders is probably not a great idea, but you know it already. In city like Toronto, location where you live or work probably plays a role.

That being said, for complex stuff I recently had good experience with tailor called Pablo, who works in Ermanno Clothing store near Younge/ Lawrence.

One more thing. There is a dedicated Toronto for Sale discussion, and depending on size you might find a good deal, something local that you might be able to try on, for less then what alteration would cost you.
