I am interested in this watch, http://www.pmwf.com/Watches/WATCHSAL...BK1220-01L.htm

there is a lot to like about it but i will focus on the negatvies:

Three things come to mind

1) it is expensive, $59+$25 USD shipped to canada, almost $100 for a quartz! watch? are there any other places that sell this watch for a lower price?

2) is having a dress watch with a dark blue face OK or not? I kinda would prefer a lighter face, is there an alternative watch out here?

3) it looks kind of cheap, do you think so?

can you list some suggestions for alternative watches?

1) $85 for a watch is cheap. Quartz or not. There are different grade quartz watches, a lot of them for thousands of dollars. You could try ebay for a similar one cheaper that might be used.

2) I think if it is very dark that is ok for a dress watch. I would stick to the leather band and slimmer watch for business dress. Lighter faces might be ok, but darker is always safer.

3) It looks cheap because it is cheap.

I really don't like that watch. Especially the band.

If I was you, I would buy a preowned watch off ebay. You can buy a 60s, 70s, or 80s mechanical watch for less than $50. Timex, Benrus, Pobeda, Vostok, and other Soviet watches are all good deals.

Aren't you the guy who said that anything that vaguely resembling another is a replica, and that all homages are replicas without any difference? And you are looking for a cheaper "alternative" to a cheap quartz watch? In any case, you can get a dressy looking Seiko or Seagull automatic in that price range, and they'll probably be better built and longer-lasting.
