I'm looking at two ties at STP right now, an Altea and a Holland and Sperry and i've never heard of either of these and was wondering what the quality is like and what other brands its comparable to.

Altea I know. They make a good quality Italian tie, which would be a step below the top tier guys (Nicky, etc.). A local men's shop sells them in the just under $100 range. I wore a silk-linen blend Altea tie yesterday, and used to own another (sold it because it was too long for me).

Holland and Sperry I know nothing of outside of seeing them at STP. The best ties at STP are the Drake's, IMO.

I saw an Altea tie in TK Maxx today, for around £9.

The Holland and Sperry is also called Holland and Sherry on certain parts of their website. Holland & Sherry is a world-class fabric firm (merchant? mill?) at one point affiliated with Kilgour. However, these ties are made in the USA, so their connection to Holland & Sherry may be at most that of a licensee with a prestigious name.

Good choice going with Drake's. Which one did you get?

I got one thats not up on the site anymore. I was told that i was likely getting the last one but she can't guarentee it. Its a lighter blue with a gold dots. It was the best looking one of the lot and they were only $34.95. So hopefully i'm gonna get it but i need brighter ties.

Thanks to Demeis for the heads-up on these ties.

I picked up one of the Altea woven paisley ties in lavender - a pattern/color combination for which I've been looking for some time - and it's just now arrived on my doorstep.

Ties a great Windsor.

Did you end up getting your Drake's, Demeis?
