Allen Edmonds is having a tent sale and from my perspective appear to have some good deals, especially considering what the shoes cost here in Canada.
However, before ordering by phone, I would appreciate some assistance from members who have been to AE tent sales, or have seen what is available at this tent sale.
Specifically I am looking at the Park Avenue model in black, and Benton in chili.
Thanks for your help and or opinions.

Sorry, should have provided more details.
The prices being quoted are $159.US for the Park Avenue and $109.US for the Benton. AE shoes here in Canada are generally priced at retail $400CDN and up.
Are these for first quality end of lines or discontinued models, or are they for seconds?
Thanks again.

These are factory seconds that have been passed over at the outlet locations. Been thru the ringer a few times. Allen Edmonds does not discount first quality shoes except at their retail locations and that is only after a shoe has been dropped from the line. They offer first quality shoes at a 35.00 $ discount 1 week each season.

Classic-

I visited two of the AE tents today, there are plenty of Park Avenues in black and a few Bentons in chili.

Call the Brookfield or Port Washington stores as they have the largest selection.

How willing are the stores to look for shoes for phone orders?  I haven't been to a AE tent sale in years (though I grew up very near to what is now the Brookfield store).  If I give them my size, will they look around and report on availability?  I wouldn't mind picking up some staples fairly easily (even though they might not compete with some of the exotic shoes I have now been introduced to via this board.).

Thanks.

Thanks for the replies.
Theodoro, did you examine the shoes? And if so, what are your observations?
Like newtopos, I am looking to add to my everyday staples and these could fit the bill.
Rider, based on your expertise, do you have any suggestions regarding other brands that could be considered at these price levels.
As with most on this forum, I am relatively new to the shoe collection habit, and so really appreciate the advice of the experts.
Thanks again.

Although the shoes most discounted are factory seconds, from what I understand, the reason for the seconds designation is cosmetic, even so, it is very difficult to distinguish them from first quality.

I have had very good luck with the shoes I purchased at the tent sales and at the AE factory in Port Washington. Call today, the tents were very busy yesterday and the supplpy is not unlimited.

Best,

T

All you can do is ask, AE is very customer service oriented, I can't see why they would turn down your business. Pick out the shoes and colors you'd be open to and ring up the Galleria and Port stores before they are picked over. Where in Brookfield are you from? East or Central? MUHS myself. I grew up in Wauwatosa and now live in Hartland. Best, Teo

I don't think you'll be dissatisfied with AE seconds, or really be able to tell that they are seconds. Some have suggested that the "seconds" designation might simply be a way that AE uses to liquidate overstock.
