Allen Edmonds problem

About 5 months ago I purchased a pair of Allen Edmonds Delrays. Long story short, they hurt the beejeezus out of my feet. It's hard to describe but it's as if they "grip" the top-heel area of my foot and pull the skin each time I take a step. I've never had blisters, but it results in intense pain.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? Did I buy a size that is too small? If so, does anyone have any experience with a shoe stretching type service? Any help would be much appreciated.

If it is the top-heal area a cobbler can soften the leather.
