I've always worn less expensive footwear, but decided that I wanted to upgrade to something better. I decided to try an Allen Edmonds shoe after reading through some of this thread http://www.styleforum.net/t/141581/allen-edmonds-appreciation-thread-reviews-pictures-sizing-etc
I liked the Strandmok Cap-toe Oxford, but they didn't have my size so I tried on a shoe that uses the same last (not sure what shoe it was). The fit was good, so I ordered it. Well... it arrived and after taking a half dozen steps I knew it was very wrong. Those were some very painful steps as the leather where the shoe creases stabbed into my toes. So, I went back to the store and tried a different style of shoe. Although I had the same problem it was only uncomfortable... not painful.
As of now I'm without a pair of Allen Edmonds which is pretty disappointing.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue and if so what should be done? Is this an issue of width or length? Or maybe I simply cannot wear a shoe in that last... but I supposedly wore a shoe made of the same last that felt perfectly fine. Or maybe there's something I need to do to the leather where it creases?
Here's a link to the shoe I tried: http://www.allenedmonds.com/rough-c...s/SF4026.html?dwvar_SF4026_color=4027#start=1
I wish I could remember the other two I tried on... I think the one that fit well was the Park Avenue.
Thanks!
