Allen Edmonds Loafer Question

Just picked a pair of Allen Edmonds loafers and I have a question regarding the insole. The insole insert only runs about 60% down the length of the shoe before it ends...that would be from the heel of the shoe. The straight cut part where the insert ends is quite thick instead of a gradual smooth finish...is this normal? Will it break in and wear down eventually? Hope I explained it well enough.

Thanks!

sounds like they put an insole in that was not skived down, which it should have been. I guess that when you have mass produced shoes, this oversight can unfortunately occur. I cannot say for sure whether or not it will wear down but i am inclined to say that it wont. You might make it softer and get used to it, but I don't think that it is going to get any thinner. If you are really desperate, you can ask a cobbler if he can somehow shave it down a little, don't know if he/she would oblige, but it might be worth a try if it is really bothering you. Good luck
