Just picked these up on eBay from Grapevinehill. Any comments on this eBay seller? I picked up a NIB pair of Allen Edmonds suede Delray oxfords, they retail for $310 and I paid $139. I included a pic. Let me know if you think this is an ok deal....

That's a great deal if you like the shoe. I happen to like that model a lot.

The shoes are even nicer in person -- the white contrast-stitching is much subtler than in the photos I've seen.

Grapevinehill is a very dependable seller. For some reason, they never include box or cloth but they tell you that clearly.

Nice shoes, too.

I bought that shoe, with a Vibram sole, badged for Faconnable. It is one of my favorite casual shoes, great with jeans.

I really liked the Delray both when I looked at them online and when I saw them in person. But when I tried them on, I did not like the "view from above." They just seemed strange to me when I was looking down at them on my own feet. Does anyone else feel this way about them (or any other split toe shoe)?

I am not much of a split-toe fan. The EG Dover is widely hailed around here, but the appeal is lost on me. I do have the Delray spectator, but that's my only split toe, and probably will be my only one unless my opinion does a 180. That said, I think the Delray looks nice in suede, as pictured above.

I never liked split toes from the pictures i've seen, but i recently got a pair of brown Delrays and love them.

But will i buy more split toes? No.

The auction said "New In Box" so I would obviously want the box as this is how I store my shoes. I'll let you know if he ships without a box. AE in EEE is the only shoe that I can buy online and feel safe. I LOVE 50% off. I'm taking the plunge next week and buying two sets of shoes in a G width from Pediwear. These will be my first set of English shoes. Some of the designer styles are a bit flashy for me. I like the notion of wearing $400 shoes and not having people know what they cost. I'm at university working on my Ph.D. and it's a little embarrassing wearing Prada or Gucci labels - some people view it as a bit snobby. I'm a full blown shoe whore and can't wait for the day when I roll into a class in a pair of Vass, Edward Green, or John Lobb oxfords - all brands that I learned about in this forum.

Thanks!
