I am interested in buying a couple pairs of AE shoes, but have never owned a pair and am interested in knowing how they fit.

Are they true to size, run small/big. How much do they stretch?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

You really need to go to an AE store to sort that all out. For example, I'm an 11 in a running shoe but a 9.5 in some AE lasts and a 10 in others... Otherwise chose a venue with free return shipping. They also provide a very general description on their website, I think it's in the "about lasts" section...

Different models fit differently. Many are based on different lasts, which are the foot proxy around which a shoe is built. Each last will provide a different fit, which may or may not make a big difference to each individual. As mdp0430 wrote the only way to know for sure is to go in and try some on. Buy a pair while you're there, and then you can order future shoes on the internet.

Don't be one of those people who goes into a shoe store, tries on a bunch of shoes, then leaves and orders off the internet, never compensating the shoe store for its time. It's rude and you're contributing to the death of retail shoe stores by doing so.

I find that they fit a bit more snug than the equivalent size of department store dress shoes, but not in a bad way. I'd equate to the way a tailored suit fits you compared to one that is off the rack. The stick to your feet nicely and your foot won't slide around.

+1

You definitely need to head to a store and try shoes in a whole bunch of different lasts. Look up the different lasts on the website and bring a pen and paper.

I'm a 10.5 to 11 in sneakers and running shoes.

I'm a 9 E , 9.5D or 9.5E depending on the last in Allen Edmonds. I recommend you don't read the last description that they have on the website. I personally find it very misleading...

Good luck!

If you live anywhere close to a retailer, go try them on. It may well save you a f-ton of issues.
