Allen Edmonds Chukkas--which color?

I'm close to pulling the trigger on these chukkas, but can't decide on color (light vs. dark brown). I'd mostly wear them with jeans and a casual navy sports coat. Either way, I don't think I would dress them up with slacks (correct me if I'm wrong in my thinking).

Alternatively, I also considered these chukkas from Lucchese, but they feel a little more rugged and less versatile.

I’d personally go for the dark brown color especially if you want to wear them with a sportcoat. That being said, I think they are a touch too casual for a sportcoat but that’s a judgment call.

In that case, what shoes do you recommend wearing with blue jeans and a casual navy sportscoat (patch pockets/unstructured)?
