Edit-Allen Edmonds have said they will fix this issue. Amazing customer service.

Edit-2- I received the replacement boots today, but they still have the grommet issue. See pics below.

E has a pretty good reputation for customer service. I would try emailing again and calling. I would expect them to make this right without any difficulty.

I heard mixed results from hand setting grommets. Good last ditch option

I will email them again.

Edit-
I am using this email address. Any other email addresses I should try?

We would like you to send your shoes back to our Customer Service Department directly so your footwear may be evaluated. We will work as quickly as possible, once we receive them, to get them returned to you in a timely manner. When sending in your shoes, please be sure to include your Name, Address, Date and location/proof of purchase, a brief description of the problem, as well as a daytime phone number so we can contact you when we receive them.
Just received this email from AE customer service. Very fast response this time. It looks like they didn't receive my first email(I might have emailed the wrong person
facepalm.gif
). It sounds like a lot trouble to get them fixed. I will be out of postage, time,... I also don't have a receipt/proof of purchase. I will likely just try to fix them with a local cobbler. What a pain.

I hate this kind of attitude for warranty work. Do they think they are fake Allen Edmonds? Maybe you made them in your garage and are trying to get proper grommets put in? It's just silly. They made shoes/boots that are failing in a near catastrophic way. They should do this; Apologies, FIX, more I'm sorry's and maybe some begging, (Please buy our shoes again, we will try harder etc.). This show me your receipt thing just bothers me. I should add that this attitude is less bothersome when you are buying cheap stuff, that is what makes it cheap, I don't think this is the market AE is going for. Add #2- Search for warranty on allenedmonds.com, I was surprised to find none given or mentioned for any of their shoes.. But they make eyeglasses?

If there is an AE store near you just take it into the store and they will send them in for you free of charge and you do not need a receipt.

They said include your Name, Address, Date and location/proof of purchase, a brief description of the problem. Date and Location/Proof says that as long as you remember (and just say Detroit in December or something) they should be able to help out. Maybe just give them a call before you post them?

1) Stolen? Yes people return stolen goods for money/credit

2) Old? Yes people return things older then dirt

3) Not bought by you. Usually any warranty applies only to the first buyer.

Now none of the above apply to the OP but enough people pull crap that companies are more or less required to protect themselves.

The Bayfields themselves can't be older than a year since they were introduced last year.

The only valid argument here is stolen. But then again, even if they were stolen, they're not being returned for money/credit; they're being returned for repair.

Other than the grommets, how do you like the boots?

I just came back from a local cobbler. He said the current grommets won't stay in place no matter what he or Allen Edmonds does. According to him AE chose some poor grommets for the Bayfields. He thinks a 2 piece grommet with equal size sides, like boot makers use, instead of one with a big side and a little side would have worked best.
He said he could possible install something like these.

Here is a side pic of the AE grommet:

This is actually the second pair of Bayfield boots I have bought. The first pair I bought from endless.com came without speedhooks.

The grommmets kind of ruined them for me, but if they would stay in place, they wouldn't be half bad.

FWIW before the grommets kept coming out of place I placed a poor review on endless.com
They never got back to me.

The first pair I ordered was missing the speed hooks. I ordered these shoes from endless for the fast shipping. I NEEDED these shoes in 2 days.
The 2nd pair I received was in tatters. Scratches, dents, loose speed hooks, wear on the soles,... They didn't even include the original Allen Edmonds box or shoe bags.
