Hi guys,

Need some quick info on the fit of the AE Tresana.

I gather it was made on an "italian" last ie not a standard AE last.

Can anyone give me some info on fit in the Tresana v 5-65 lasted shoes i.e. Park Ave, fifth ave?

I'm a measured 11B Brannock, and wear a 10.5C in Park Aves (following the standard advice of sizing down one in length, up one in width).

Thanks!

They do have different soles than the standard AS soles. They say made in Italy on them, and "jumbo 9-10" for whatever that's worth...they are pretty faded though. Thanks for the heads up!

Those would be replacement soles then... won't help with your question. If you can post a good picture of the shoes, I bet we can tell you. Calf gets small creases on the vamp, as you wear the shoes. Shell cordovan gets wide "rolls" as they are worn.

Dalton Owners: does anybody have any pics of their daltons with some regular wear and use?

A little late, but here you go:

This is the calf version - my shell version doesn't have that much wear and use yet.

For those that wanted pics of the North Platte

Gorgeous! Thanks for posting the pic.

Received my Jefferson's tonight, what a great shoe!

Please post pics and your thoughts on the differences between AE's "normal" line, shell cordovan line, and Independence line (if you have the time). Thanks!

P.S. Here is the 12D list that I received from AE, stating what's available:

Today's Shoes: AE Sanford in "black cherry" Shell Cordovan

Outstanding! As always bucksfan. I have not heard "black cherry" for a shoe description in many years but the first pair of shell I ever saw was labeled that color. If AE ever decides to release those Sanford in shell again I will be first in line.

Thanks! Your cordovan Strand and RL PTB picture makes me jealous, though.
Those suede Sandersons don't get nearly enough wear. They're on the 2 last, I think, but for some reason are more tolerable than the AEs I've tried on that last. Maybe the suede is more forgiving? I have no idea.

So.. this was an old post of mine, wondering why my RL suede Sandersons seemed to fit, while I can't fit into any other shoes on the 2 last. By chance yesterday, I came across the box, and I was surprised to see that I had sized up 1/2! I'd completely forgotten. Seems to work great for me. That's the benefit of being able to try on in the store - I'm sure I tried both the 11 and 11 1/2 at the RL store...

At least now I know I can get away with a 2-last shoe by going 1/2 size up.

I'm sure I've asked this before but I'm clearly not very good at retaining information. East Coasters (I'm in NYC) -- who do you all reach out to at the shoe bank usually for sales like the 2 for $200 happening right now?

Thanks!

Any opinions of MacNeil in brown? On my list from Freeport. Is this the pebble grain, or is it really brown? Either way, I may jump on these.

Just ordered black Hales and chocolate Player's on the 2 for $200 deal. I should have them by the end of the week.

I would call the shoebank and ask if there are any sales going on, and if not, if they are expecting to have a sale anytime soon.

Please post pics and your thoughts on the differences between AE's "normal" line, shell cordovan line, and Independence line (if you have the time). Thanks!

The Jefferson in the Independence line was a tough choice for me as it cost almost as much as what I pay for shell. So far I feel it was a good choice. Not sure how the leather will hold up long term (it is very soft but thick) compared to shell. The leather is definitely an upgrade over the standard line. As is pretty much every thing else about the shoe. There appears to be more attention to detail in the shoe over the standard line.

I think a fair comparison of the Jefferson to shell can be done once my shell Cambridge arrive. Compared to my shell shoes, or any others for that matter, these seem very stout. The soles and heel on the Jefferson are a beast and I believe these soles should last a long time. In fact my gut feeling is everything about these shoes will last a very long time. I couldn't resist and know better but I wore them today without fully breaking them in but I'm sitting in conference calls most of the day so took a chance. I will try to get a picture up in the next couple of days after some Reno and Saphir dark brown polish. So far they have only had 15 min. of brush time but they still looked great out of the box.
