Going to try this one more time - look at the bulge in the left shoe at my arch. I have very flat feet, but this is much more noticeable in the left foot. It feels fine, but looks awkward to me. Think it will be noticeable to others? Would you return them?
Edit...personally I wouldnt return them if you got a good deal on them. If you paid anywhere near full price then maybe...depends on how much you like the shoe. How does it look with pants on?
My rep agreed to swap out the black Lombards for the walnut Lombards. What's the final verdict, should I move forward with this or keep the black ones? I own burgundy Van Ness, walnut Strands, and black dress shoes. I wear grey/navy/charcoal suits...
Yea, they were 2nds in the 2/300 sale, so I paid $150 - I think they're seconds because the left shoe has a sole that sticks out slight farther from the upper at the toe. Totally unnoticeable unless you look at them from above with them right next to each other.
Here's the shot I got of them with pants. My worry, though, is that the bulging will be noticeable when I walk and pants swish around somewhat. But I guess people probably aren't looking at that as much as i might think they are.
Yeah, I doubt anyone will notice, if you like them and they're comfortable, I say keep them.
I say swap them. As long as your black dress shoes are a solid pair (captoe?), you dont need more than one
My wife would kill me. I'll have to wait on purchasing a plain old calf pair...(purchased 3 pairs in the black-weekend frenzy.
That's crazy, they are cap-toe great guess, just not AE. Thanks bro! Plus I am still debating whether to go from the D --> E since they are snug, and my strands are more comfortable. I'l lspeak with the rep.
Been putting this off for a while, but here are the my first Allen Edmonds shoes, Quintons:
Dainite styled soles
These are first quality, but I'm a little disappointed by the quality of them , I tried to shoot a few pics of the welt where I think it could have been finished better:
It took long enough to come though that I am going to live with it, as I don't think it will affect the shoes in the long run.
Have you worn these? If not I would definitely try and contact Customer Service, maybe they'll throw something extra your way
Yup. Wore them twice already. To get these from Allen Edmonds direct they said it would take about 3 weeks, as they needed to be made when I was originally looking at them, so I wouldn't want to wait for another pair. Didn't end up buying them direct from AE in the end though.
I don't think that will affect the functionality of the welt. But it's one of those annoying things I notice from AE. They do machine finishing and sometimes nick things up, like on your shoes, but let the shoes go out anyway.
I bought MacNeils during the sale in September and found the same issues around the welt. I also found leather finishing issues. I didn't pursue it. I wear the shoes at least twice a week and have gotten them shined 3 times since purchase. I'm not sweatin it but I will store buy my next pair of Allen's.
If you are like me, you'll spend too much time looking down at the shoe and being annoyed, rather than wearing it carefree with no concerns.
Those look horrible. Just send them back.
