Anybody order the UD Amsterdams and have not received them yet? It has been >6 weeks now since my order and I still haven't gotten any type of notification. I'm wondering if my order got lost in the mix somehow...

I still have not received my Gramercys either (ordered them the first day they went on sale)... I called AE last week and they said that they should be out of production this week and delivered late this week or early next week. May be worth calling thought to see if your Amsterdams are the same case.

You might shoot AE an email. I received mine last week and the bourbon color is fantastic, but unfortunately I had to send them back to AE to due some QC issues. Customer service has been fantastic, but still a bit disappointing.

In any event, it sounds like a fair number of people here have received them. I think it would be worth sending an email with your order information.

I am a bit between an 8E and 8EEE on the 5 last (Strand, etc.)... I have shell MacNeils in 8E (on the 7-97 last) and they fit almost perfect because they feel wider around the ball of the foot and probably because they are flatter across the toes. I also just got the shell 5th Streets in 8E and they are a good fit too.

I would not personally down-width to a B because I think to get the width I would need, I would have to up-size to a length that would be too long.
Going from an E to a B is a pretty dramatic decrease in width, even if you up-size a half or full size.

Thank you very much. This was really helpful. The only way I can buy AE is from the internet and getting the right fit is extremely hard. I am in Australia and return shipping from Aus to US is about $60-$80. I am still learning about my perfect shoe size through my mistakes !!!

Wow. I just purchased the Dalton in walnut. I may have to make this happen.

Here is a pic of the damage. It's actually superficial and does not appear to extend into the leather itself at all. Just need to know how to restore the pigment on walnut shell cordovan.

It is difficult to control the break on new shoes, but as long as they are still comfortable after creasing, enjoy...

^ fit like a dream. Guess it's just one of those things that you get over more and more with each wear.

Odd thing is I had to size down in width on both my 8 and 5 last shoes when going from a balmoral to a blutcher. Does anyone else have to do this?

I haven't, but that makes sense to me as the derbys are probably going to be looser than the oxfords. They should really take that into account when manufacturing though.
