This is with zero filter. They are $197 because they are dead ugly.

Honestly, I am all for wearing something different/unique, but I simply cannot fathom the need to ever have a pair of grey leather shoes. I am fairly certain it is probably the least flattering color for leather in general. It shows nothing, there is no beauty in it, no richness. It flat lines the fact that it is nice leather.

I guess with the right outfit, they can look ok... raw denim look... but personally, that look would go 10000x better with walnut anyways. Just my $0.02. If you can make them work and you are happy with them, then enjoy the price break, thats almost 50% off...

Incidentally, what color edge dressing do they use? I have the Bourbon Strand, but am unsure if if the welts are Brown or Black.

Quote: From the looks of it, mine look pretty black to me. I will go home and see what they look like compared to a black welt. I might give them a really good acetone cleanse then hit it with chili just to see what happens

I agree with this. At one point it seemed like all the grey shoes in every model were on clearance; not sure if that is still the case. I have a hard time seeing how to wear grey leather with anything other than old jeans.

Is there any reason that the Elgin doesn't fit the bill for what you want? It is the Strand in rough leather (unless you don't like the double leather sole). I think you can still get it through Brooks Brothers.

Though I just noticed that they must be discontinuing it as well, since there are only a couple of sizes left. I really hated to see that shoe go... Loved it but never got around to buying it.

There's only two problems. One, I wanted something other than brown or black. Olive or even suede would be nice. Two, I take a narrow width. I haven't found a "D" width in AE that fits me.

I am selling a pair of brand new, flawless, unworn 7.5E Bourbon Calf AE Strands. These fit like a 8/8.5 in other shoes from what I've experienced. I am just looking to get the cost back which I paid for them since they unfortunately don't fit my foot. I measured wrong. Message me if anyone is interested - I can have them in the mail the day after I receive payment (no need to wait 1.5 - 2 months if you order through other sources).

    Thanks!

I think the mods already suspended one member for posting shoes for sale in this thread. You should really post in B&S.

^Did not know that as I've never sold anything on here. Will move to B&S.

    Thanks.

Sure, the mods have not been in a forgiving mood lately . . .

Congratulations! I think you will love them. I have had mine for about seven months now and they are one of my favorites. Interesting that yours are almost the same color as mine as opposed to other walnut shell Daltons I've seen that are more the color of the walnut calf Daltons. Maybe that's the walnut shell color that AE is using now.

Was that an MTO? Anyway, enjoy!

Awesome. That Horween stamp inside your shoe is also highly sought after - most shoes don't get it. You won the lottery!

The same could be said for:

    - Any Webgem
    - Any of the colorful "rough" Dublin leathers (Neumok, Cronmock, et al.)
    - Any pairing with colorful laces

Admittedly, I tried doing the color-laces thing and reverted back.

AE is really targeting the younger demo's with these lines.

Proper leather tones with proper laces will look better for 99% of people and 99% of outfits IMO.

The fad is lasting too long.

Some people mentioned on my earlier post that these shoes were "bowing." I have no idea what this means as I thought I had just bought my incorrect shoe size (it was a little painful to walk due to the narrow width).

Can someone kindly explain this? Will AE be able to help me in this case?
