1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

If you had a bad experience with JAB shoe trees, then you need to stay away from AE full toe trees. They are the same. Incidentally, most of my trees are either Alden (split toe, size L) or AE/JAB (full toe, size M).

Thanks for the heads up on that. I'll for sure stay away from Jos.A.B and AE trees, then.
My main problem with the Jos.A.B trees were not only that they were too wide, but the edge was too pointed on inside toe part, which left that crease (it's getting a bit better). The Alden trees however had smoother edges, so even if they were too wide, they wouldn't dig in the side of the shoe with a sharp horizontal edge.

Also, both are size XL - M, both say that they're made for 13 D.

Number two is a good look, but it may be hard to get that kind of contrasting with the relatively dark shade of the walnut shell.

We all decide which rules we want to keep and when. Bals as true dress shoes is one of the rules I keep 100% of the time.

But I actually don't disagree that the Neumok would work with certain chinos and jeans (agree on no Neumoks and slacks or suits, unless a casual linen or cotton suit), even if it's not what I'd wear. I was more making the statement, "especially not those jeans."

I know you might be all bored with anything to do with the Krause boots so I'll make this my last mention of them. [IMG] I finally got around to treating the Wolverine/AE Krause boots in russet that I got. I took guidance from some others that have done this as I thought the boots looked too red and "plain" out of the box for my liking. I did not treat with any conditioner first as I wanted maximum penetration of the black polish/cream. I know this may be cheating but I wanted a more worn look and also thought it might aid in the penetration of the black cream so I actually massaged the boots, bending the leather back and forth and softening it up, mostly along the top edges of the vamp and along the eyelets.

    Here's a before picture:

Here's the after picture. I actually used the black cream polish on the raw edges as well (thanks to Mario Impemba for the idea). I was quite pleased with the overall result. Ok, I'm done.

Nice job. Looks great, and much better than out-the-box. Nice laces, too.

    Good Afternoon Gents

I will be putting up a pair of shoes for sale, just want to give you the heads up.

Shell Cordovan McGraw in a 10.5B, never worn. fresh coat of Saphir Reno. Will post pics, not sure the exact color but they are a lighter shade of brown. I will have all the details when I post up the FS thread.

    Thanks

FYI, same shoes below, but not in color 8.

Yep. You don't need the number for this shoe but in case I think this one is 9097. I really like the patina on old MacNeils, I wear mine all the time.

PSA Chicago: Saw a pair of burgundy shell MacNeil's in 9.5 EEE at Nordstrom RACK on State for $249. Some shop wear but they're shells so not really an issue.
